To experience the ‘rush’ of adrenaline that surfing brings, you can learn the basics in just a lesson or two at one of the Croyde Surf schools. Many visitors have tried surfing and been amazed how fun the sport can be for the whole family! Others enjoy bodyboarding, or purely body-surfing – the thrill of catching your first wave is unique.
Whilst Croyde boasts world-class waves, there are other spots to try locally too. Putsborough, Saunton and Woolacombe are all within a few minutes’ drive. These longer beaches are more suitable to kayaking and kite-surfing and Stand-up surfing (SUP).
For the closest accommodation to Croyde beach, it makes sense to choose Croydebreaks Beach Cottages and Breakers Bed and Breakfast.
Our holiday cottages have quick access to the beach footpath and within a few minutes you could be riding the waves in the bay. All the accommodations have outside taps for rinsing your wetsuits and lines for drying…you can even check the surf from Breakers Bed and Breakfast, and Little Breakers Beach House by looking out the windows!
Croyde beach is patrolled by the RNLI Lifeguard service from East to late October, so you can feel safe knowing the professionals are looking after you.
For more experienced surfers the Atlantic low pressures can bring superb waves to North Devon’s coast, generating excellent conditions at most times of the year. In the summertime the ocean is warmer, but surfing the crisp, clean lines of an autumn or winter swell can be fantastic.
So what are you waiting for? Finding a beach retreat, only a few minutes stroll to the surf, is easy with Croydebreaks Beach Cottages and Breakers Bed and Breakfast. Check us out online or phone 01271 890101
